Artist's Comments

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT FAV MY DEVIATION WITHOUT A COMMENT, I GREATLY PREFER COMMENTS THAT FAVS!

Some of you who have read my recent journal we’ll know that I’m now using the deamon codex for my Mechanicus army along side the Necron codex which I’ll use from time to time. If you wish to tell me what you think of the idea comment on my journal: [link] But for now lets keep comments related to the model.

While most of my Mechanicus models can effectively represent both Necron and Deamon units there are some deamon units that require me to convert new robots for them. 1 Of these is the Screamer an awesome tank buster unit for any all Tzeentch army.

After a night of experimental modeling I created the Zanatorian Disruptor which I can easily be made from left over bits from the Dragoon and Destroyer conversions. It works by flying close to a tank before unleashing a powerful electro magnetic wave that can either disrupt the systems (shaken or stunned) or overall load the vehicle’s systems completely (destroyed).

There are still parts of it that are imperfect such as the arms and inside of the wings and I hope to have those areas improved later this week.

I’m also trying to figure out a robot to represent ‘The Changeling’ whether it will be a psyker’s brain implanted into a robot or an ancient piece of tech that focuses on feeding info directly into the targets brain to create illusions I’ve yet to choose?

I just love the conversion of Tau and Necron bitz into that Screamer. Though it doesn't mold into your Necron Codex ideology, the Necron spine just instantly screamed Necrons.

I like the look of it though, very mechanical, very alien. Since I'm not a gamer and don't really know the rules, that almost looks like an ideal suicide unit. A cheaply built drone that latches onto tanks or armor and releases some sort of EMP, thus rendering the vehicle and itself useless.

But thats just a thought

Thats what I love about feedback so much, you pointed out a large flaw in the model, your right it screams necron so I'll replace the spine with something a bit more suitable...

5 Minutes later and I found a much better replacement the destroyer's gun arm: [link]
I've got the large sphere at the back the wires sticking out the top and small sphere at the front above the eye piece all and all it's a vast improvement making it look like it does fire some sort of shockwave.

The Zanatorians thank you for the upgrade Ultimate-Bebi :D

Well I've got to aid them, you provide such wonderful feedback to my Tau creations.

Have you ever seen [link]

It's based in the UK and I'm not sure if the exchange rate will match up to being cheaper than the Warstore. I've found their prices quite steep for such items.

No idea on the changeling man as I don't know who that is, I personally have yet to read the daemon codex.

That said, this is really cool man, it looks VERY nice and if I were to make a necron army when the new codex comes out (I'm thinking of it since I've never played them before and I like my conversion themes so far.) I'd make something akin to these, I'm not sure what I'd count them as though.

For the first time in a while I really don't have any recommendations man, just fill in the gaps and these guys are ready to go as is. One thing that might be cool to try is a technique I once used to represent a farseer using a psychic power. First drill some very thin holes into the ends of the arms and tail thing. Then take some really thin but rigid metal wire (Hard ware stores should have it. Think of an arts and crafts pipe cleaner minus the fuzz.) and glue them into the holes. With the wires now secured bend them into an 'arced lightning' shape so that they all join together into a ball in the center. Once this is done use a little greenstuff to make the ball look like a solid sphere and paint the model so that the wires look like glowing strands of energy.

If you do it right then it will look like the models are charging up some sort of crazy energy attack. I did it once so that a farseer looked like he was doing a HADOKEN! attack (Ryu kicks ass btw.) and it worked well. This was about 10 years ago mind you, so I'm sure my childhood memories are making the model look better to my recollection than it really was.

Oh, and if you string out the wires when you join them together you can create the illusion that the device is actually being fired too.

Very nice! Its lost the Necron feel and looks far more alien and robotic.

another great use of parts :)

For once I actually like the front of one of ur models more than I like the back. Simple... are you gonna add mechanical details to the front?
:iconproiteus:
Don't think so?
